ONIGIRI

Onigiri (Rice Ball)

 INGREDIENTS (Serve 6 or 7 person)
・ 12oz warm boiled rice.
Rice should be sticky rice (short grain spices)
<Stuffing>
・ Pickled plum.
・ Chum salmon, grilled and torn into small pieces.
・ Dried bonito flakes.
・ Canned tuna with mayonnaise.
・ Toasted nori seaweed sheets.
・ Soy souse.
・ Salt.
<Prepare the following beforehand>
・ Food Wrapper / Plastic foil
・ Regular size rice bowl.

 DIRECTIONS
1. Put a handful of boiled rice lightly into a rice bowl, make a hole at the center of the rice to place your favorite filling and put some more rice on top of filling.

2. Sprinkle a pinch of salt on the rice. Adjust the quantity of salt depending on the type of filling.

3. Transfer the rice in the bowl in order to measure a certain amount of rice. Wrap with food wrapper the rice to form into a ball shape. Form into ball shape lightly while rolling it in both hands. Make sure that the position of the filling comes to the center.

4. To make a triangle rice roll, follow this process-Transfer the rice ball in the bowl to the palm of the left hand, and angle the right palm. Roll the rice lightly anticlockwise in both hands while maintaining the angle of the right palm to it into a triangle.

5. Wrap the roll with a nori seaweed sheet.

* Form into whichever shape you like-sphere, flat round, flat triangle or cylinder.

Essential Tips for Rice Ball

* Pay attention to the side of the nori seaweed sheets. Place the sheet around the rice ball so that the rough side is on the inside.
* Don’t roll the ball too tight. Otherwise, the rice ball will be too hard.

Enjoy a variety of rice ball by changing their shapes and with different kinds of filling.

And ONIGIRI (Rice ball) is good for picnic Lunch box.
